Man Utd without nine first-team stars ahead of West Ham United clash

Manchester United are without nine first-team stars ahead of the Premier League clash against West Ham United on the road.

The Red Devils played out a 1-1 draw against Fenerbahce in the Europa League on Thursday night.

As a result, the club have yet to pick up a win in the European competition. They have drawn their opening three matches.

United will be in action against the Hammers on Sunday and ahead of the game, they will be without several notable names.

Leny Yoro (foot), Tyrell Malacia (knee) and Luke Shaw (calf) are long-term absentees. The trio have returned to individual training, but are yet to be integrated into full team sessions.

Mason Mount (knock), Kobbie Mainoo and Harry Maguire (both muscular) are also on the sidelines, having yet to recover from respective injuries picked up before the international break.

Young graduates Dan Gore and Toby Collyer, who are part of the first-team, won’t be available for the east London trip, having suffered injuries too. This was confirmed by United’s website.

Antony sustained a possible ankle sprain against Fenerbahce yesterday and he was spotted leaving the stadium with a protective boot. The club should provide a timescale pretty soon.

United are set to be without nine players against the Hammers, but there is a significant boost with Bruno Fernandes obviously available for selection after serving his one-game ban in Europe.

Jonny Evans was ruled out with a knock against Brentford last weekend, but manager Erik ten Hag is hopeful that the Northern Irishman will recover in time to face the Hammers on the road.

United have had to cope with numerous injuries for some time. Ten Hag personally acknowledged in his presser than the club’s progress in the league has been hampered by the same.

However, he still has a strong starting line-up at his disposal and the Red Devils have the opportunity to pick up back-to-back wins in the Premier League for the first time this season.
