Man Utd want to sign Real Sociedad winger Takefusa Kubo

Manchester United have already expressed their interest in signing Real Sociedad winger Takefuso Kubo, according to Mundo Deportivo (Gipuzkova edition).

The Red Devils were linked with the Japan international earlier this week and it was claimed that they could propose to sign him in an exchange deal for Antony.

This story has been dismissed by MD Gipuzkova but they confirm that there is interest in the 22-year-old. An approach could be made by United to sign him next summer.

Kubo is currently happy with the proceedings at Real Sociedad, but United plan to convince him by offering a juicy salary, six to seven times of his current wages.

Sociedad are set to hold out for his €60 million release clause. Real Madrid have the option to re-sign him for €33m. They will receive 27m from the clause if he goes elsewhere.

United could pursue another right winger

The Red Devils signed Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2021 and he was widely considered as their permanent solution for the right wing position.

However, he has hardly made an impact from the role. He is currently on the verge of leaving the club following a public fall-out with manager Erik ten Hag earlier this season.

Antony has also disappointed from the right flank. He started brightly with three goals from as many league games, but has scored just once from the next 35 top-flight outings.

The former Ajax star has a tally of eight goals and three assists from 62 games for United overall. It is left to be seen whether the club contemplate his departure in the summer.

In our view, Kubo would be a quality acquisition with his good potential. He has nine goal contributions in 17 La Liga games this term, but has also impressed with other attributes.

The Japanese has completed two dribbles per game while winning 57 per cent of his duels. He has fared better than Antony in both aspects this term (one dribble per game & 48 per cent duels won).

We believe Kubo would be a top-class signing for United but they won’t get him on the cheap with Sociedad unlikely to accept anything less than his buy-out clause next summer.
