Manchester United vs Burnley Preview

Manchester United will be looking to go level on points with Chelsea in fourth place with three points against Burnley at Old Trafford this evening.

The Blues currently occupy the final Champions League spot and are not in action until tomorrow evening when they travel to Bournemouth.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has won an incredibly nine games from nine games in charge as caretaker manager of Manchester United, with the latest being a 3-1 win at Arsenal in the FA Cup on Friday night.

Burnley are unbeaten in their last four Premier League matches, taking 10 points in the process. However, they haven’t faced a top 6 side during that run and were hammered 5-0 at Manchester City in the FA Cup on Saturday.

We were 2-0 winners at Turf Moor back in September under Jose Mourinho, with Romelu Lukaku scoring both goals in the first half.

Manchester United vs Burnley Team News

The boss confirmed in yesterday’s pre-match press conference that Chris Smalling is available again after injury and that only Marouane Fellaini and Marcos Rojo are absent from this evening’s game. Smalling is unlikely to start however, as Phil Jones and Victor Lindelof have formed a decent partnership in recent weeks and Eric Bailly is also available.

Alexis Sanchez and Romelu Lukaku both returned to the starting XI on Friday night’s FA Cup win at the Emirates Stadium but two games in a week may come too soon for both players. Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial will be looking to make their returns to the starting lineup as we return to Premier League action this evening.

Opposing manager Sean Dyche will have to make do without defender Matthew Lowton for this evening’s trip to Old Trafford due to a toe injury, whilst Aaron Lennon is out with a knee injury and Jonathan Walters has been sidelined all season. Influential midfielder Joey Gudmundson is also a doubt.

Manchester United vs Burnley Predicted Lineups

Manchester United (4-3-3): David de Gea; Diogo Dalot, Phil Jones, Victor Lindelof, Luke Shaw; Nemanja Matic, Ander Herrera, Paul Pogba; Juan Mata, Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial

Burnley (4-4-2): Tom Heaton; Matthew Taylor, James Tarkowski, Ben Mee, Stephen Ward; Jeff Hendrick, Ashley Westwood, Jack Cork, Dwight McNeil; Ashley Barnes, Chris Wood

Prediction: Manchester United 2-0 Burnley

Unsurprisingly, Manchester United are the 1.24 odds-on favourites to win the game with Betolimp.com, while the draw can be backed at 5.97, and a Burnley win at 11.40. I’m confident of a routine 2-0 victory this evening and that scoreline is available at odds of 5.62. Paul Pogba has been in great form lately and I think he’ll continue that run tonight so odds of 5.66 at Betolimp SA for the Frenchman to score first looks tempting. If we combine Pogba to score first in a 2-0 United win we get excellent odds of 29.12.
