Man Utd very attentive to movements of Barcelona wonderkid Pau Cubarsi

Manchester United are very attentive to the situation of Barcelona wonderkid Pau Cubarsi, according to Spanish publication Sport (page 3).

The 17-year-old made his full debut for the Spanish outfit in January this year and he has since been ever-present at the heart of their defence.

His performances have caught the eye of elite European clubs and Sport claim that United are one of those who are very attentive over his progress.

Cubarsi has a low release clause of just €10 million, but United are not in a position to trigger the figure due to the current Premier League rules.

The Red Devils would have to wait for the centre-back to turn 18 (January 22, 2025) before they can activate the buy-out clause in his deal.

United unlikely to secure transfer deal for Cubarsi

The teenager has been a revelation since his breakthrough into the senior squad. He has averaged 71 passes in La Liga with an accuracy of 91 per cent.

He has won almost four duels per game, making 3.2 clearances, three recoveries and 1.9 tackles.

Cubarsi has all the traits to become a future star, but it is unlikely that United will get the opportunity to land his signature in the forthcoming seasons.

With his immense progress, the Catalan giants are already in regular negotiations with him over a new long-term contract with a staggering release clause.

Barcelona can’t commit him to a new deal until he turns 18 in January 2025. It would be a surprise if United manage to persuade him into joining them instead.

Cubarsi has been with the Blaugrana since the age of 11 and he is unlikely to turn down a renewal at his boyhood club to pursue a new challenge abroad next year.
