Man Utd to rival Man City for RB Leipzig star Dani Olmo

Manchester United have joined the race for RB Leipzig star Dani Olmo, the Daily Mail reports.

The 25-year-old is subject to interest from several clubs across Europe, including Real Madrid and United’s fierce rivals Manchester City.

Olmo has been in fine form for Leipzig this season, establishing himself as a key player in Marco Rose’s team with seven goals and four assists in 19 appearances.

The Spanish international has struggled with injury problems but has been a consistent performer when fit, creating six big chances in 15 Bundesliga games.

Olmo is a regular for both Leipzig and the Spanish national team. He got on the score sheet against Brazil on Tuesday, bagging an excellent individual goal in the 3-3 draw at Santiago Bernabeu.

He keeps turning heads with his performances, attracting scouts from Europe’s top clubs.

Man City, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are among the clubs monitoring Olmo’s progress at Leipzig, while Madrid have also expressed an interest.

United have now joined the race for the Spanish forward, who is versatile enough to feature on either flank, play behind a striker or slot in as a false nine.

The Red Devils are preparing for a potentially busy summer with Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his revamped recruitment team set to overhaul Erik ten Hag’s squad.

United are looking to reinforce every position in the squad and are assessing Olmo as a potential target. However, the feasibility of a transfer depends on the club’s financial status at the end of the season.

United are treading a tightrope with the Premier League’s strict Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) breathing down their neck, so they must raise cash from player sales before recruiting new faces.

That could make Olmo’s £52 million valuation a steep price for the Red Devils, although they could have more financial breathing room if they qualify for the Champions League.
