Man Utd to receive Phil Jones injury update

Phil Jones limped off midway through the first half in Manchester United’s 2-1 loss at Huddersfield Town on Saturday.

The England international was replaced with an apparent leg injury with the score at 0-0.  His replacement, Victor Lindelof then saw his side concede two goals within 11 minutes of entering the field – the second solely the Swede’s fault for misjudging a long ball upfield.

Prior to his injury at the John Smith’s Stadium this past weekend, Phil Jones had played every minute in the Premier League this season, helping us to seven clean sheets in our first eight games.

Eric Bailly is due back this week, ahead of our EFL Cup tie at Swansea City on Tuesday and then a big Premier League clash at home to Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.

With Lindelof’s shocking performances in the few appearances he’s made he could well be demoted to fifth choice centre-back now with Daley Blind taking his place.  Chris Smalling is the other centre-back option currently available to Jose Mourinho.

The Sun are reporting that Mourinho and Manchester United will find out today the extent of Phil Jones’ injury.

As well as facing Spurs in our next Premier League outing, we have Chelsea coming up the following weekend, either side of Benfica in the Champions League.  We’re already hurt in midfield through the absences of Paul Pogba, Marouane Fellaini and Michael Carrick so we’ll have to pray that Phil Jones makes a speedy recovery.
