Manchester United plan to meet Facundo Pellistri’s agent over a new contract next week, according to journalist Cesar Luis Merlo.
Pellistri made his United debut against Charlton Athletic in January and he has since managed another seven appearances in all competitions.
Just one of those have come from the starting line-up and it has been reported that the Uruguayan could be loaned out for the 2023/24 season.
Pellistri’s current deal expires in June 2025 with an option for another 12 months. United are now keen to sort out an improved contract for him.
Talks are expected with his representative next week over the wages and length of the extension.
Pellistri on course for another loan spell
Pellistri has made good progress over the past year and he is already a regular with the Uruguayan national side. He has three assists from 11 caps.
However, the 21-year-old has yet to become a regular for the Red Devils and may have to stay patient. Antony is currently an undisputed starter on the right wing.
The likes of Bruno Fernandes, Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford can also operate from the position and Pellistri is unlikely to break into manager Erik ten Hag’s plans.
Hence, he could be loaned out during the next campaign. We won’t be surprised if United are tempted to send him to a mid-table side in the Championship.
Amad Diallo has been impressive with Sunderland on loan this season. The Ivorian youngster has registered nine goals and three assists from 34 outings.
Pellistri could follow the same route with a move to the Black Cats. Aside from him, Anthony Elanga is also expected to be loaned out for the 2023/24 campaign.
