Manchester United’s 2019-20 Premier League campaign is set to restart with a trip to Tottenham Hotspur on Friday 19 June 2020.
Prior to that, our players are stepping up their return to full fitness with a warm-up match against Championship promotion hopefuls West Bromwich Albion.
As per a report in the London Evening Standard, we are the final stages of arranging the friendly this week.
West Brom are second in the Championship, one point behind Leeds United and six ahead of Fulham in third.
The Red Devils have been back in full training and our squad took part in a training match at Old Trafford over the weekend.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer currently has a fully fit squad to choose from ahead of the restart, notably with both Marcus Rashford and Paul Pogba both recovering from long-term injuries during the league’s suspension.
Our match versus Tottenham in 10 days’ time will be our first since 12 March, our 5-0 thrashing of LASK in the Europa League, due to the disruption caused by COVID-19.
Solskjaer is quoted in the newspaper as saying:
“We’ve been looking forward to these games for ages really.
“It does make it feel like ‘yes, we’re here soon.
“Everyone knows that we will have to be at our best, have to be focused (against Tottenham). We know it’s a big game for everyone.
“We had Chelsea when we started the league this season so I’m confident that our players can go into the Tottenham game with that mentality of going there to play a very good game of football.”
Manchester United are fifth with nine games to go when the season restarts, three points behind Chelsea in the final Champions League spot.
We are also set to face Norwich City at Carrow Road in the FA Cup quarter-finals.
