Man Utd to battle Liverpool for £42.5m-rated centre-back

Manchester United are set to go into battle with Liverpool for FC Porto’s £42.5 million-rated centre-back Eder Militao.

The 20-year-old has been solid at the back for the Portuguese Primeira Liga leaders since joining from his homeland last summer.

Whether FC Porto would cash in on the Brazilian this month or even in the summer, so soon after signing him, remains to be seen. It is the Sun that are today reporting we are set to do battle with Real Madrid and Liverpool for the player’s signature.

Eder Militao was impressive as a teenager in the first team at Sao Paolo that he got a move to Europe as a youngster. His performances for FC Porto have even impressed Brazil national team manager Tite that he gave the centre-back his senior debut in a friendly against El Salvador back in September. Porto paid just £3 million for his services less than six months ago.

The defender started five of FC Porto’s six Champions League group stage games, helping the two-time winners of the competition to progress to the second round where they will take on AS Roma in their first leg next month.

We continue to be linked to centre-backs despite an improvement in form of Victor Lindelof this season and with Eric Bailly being one of the best in his position in the Premier League. Though the Ivorian has missed a lot of time due to injury in the two-and-a-half years with us.

Eder Militao looks to have a great future ahead of him and he won’t be at FC Porto for too long if he continues to show great development. Whether he will end up at Manchester United we’ll have to keep our fingers crossed.
