Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat is training away from the first-team ahead of a potential late transfer, according to Calciomercato.
The Moroccan star has been linked with Manchester United for several weeks, but the club are yet to make a formal approach to sign him.
It is now reported that the 27-year-old is training individually at Fiorentina with a predefined mindset that he is on the verge of being sold.
United are mentioned as one of his admirers, but it is claimed that the club no longer consider him as a priority ahead of the transfer deadline.
Fiorentina currently want €30 million with bonuses for the midfielder. Amrabat is prepared to stay if the club don’t receive any viable proposals.
United’s move for Amrabat may depend on player sales
United have offloaded the likes of Alex Telles, Anthony Elanga and Fred this summer, but the hierarchy need more departures for a late spending spree.
Dean Henderson, Donny van de Beek and Scott McTominay are potential candidates that could be sold. Among the three, Henderson is more likely to leave.
In our view, United could make one more signing before the transfer deadline.
Amrabat has been linked throughout the transfer window, but there has been no indication from United’s side that they are prepared to make an official bid.
This could change in the coming days if they can recoup sufficient funds. We believe Amrabat would be a good addition due to his strong distribution skills.
The Moroccan is also good with his ball control, hold-up play and possesses a tireless work rate. He can comfortably play in central or defensive midfield.
Fiorentina are not demanding an exorbitant fee for him, but United can’t afford to spend without sales with the risk of breaching Financial Fair Play limits.
