Manchester United target Kai Havertz scored a brace as Bayer 04 Leverkusen hammered Werder Bremen 4-1 on Monday night as the German Bundesliga restarted this weekend.

Havertz lined up as the striker in a 4-2-3-1 formation at the Weser Stadium, scoring both of his goals in a five-minute spell in the first half, either side of the home team’s equaliser.
The 20-year-old is highly-rated in his home country and already has seven senior caps to his name for the German national team. He predominately plays in a central attacking midfield or right forward role and had been particularly productive since the turn of the year prior to the league’s suspension in mid-March.
It has been reported that the attacker has a €100 million buy-out clause in his contract, which could prove a stumbling block for us in the current landscape. However, Bayer Leverkusen may accept an offer for less than that.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer doesn’t have a regular right forward in the United team whilst Bruno Fernandes filled the vacancy of the number 10 role since making his debut in early February. Havertz’s ability to fill in at striker would likely mean we wouldn’t need to make Odion Ighalo a permanent signing if we were to bring the youngster to Old Trafford.
Ighalo has been on loan since the end of the winter transfer window, scoring four goals in eight appearances across all competitions. He was brought in due to Marcus Rashford’s long-term injury, though the England international is now fit again.
Kai Havertz has now scored eight goals and assisted five more in his 23 Bundesliga appearances this season, as well as scoring three and assisting two in his three Europa League starts. However, he failed to score in any of his five Champions League group stage starts this season.
