Man Utd target could be cheaper this summer, hints MD

Borussia Dortmund Managing Director Carsten Cramer expects asking prices to fall due to the COVID-19 pandemic. That’s not a bold or new prediction by any means, but it could certainly be a hint that the German giants are prepared to let Manchester United target Jadon Sancho go for cheaper than previously priced.

We have been strongly linked with a move for the England international for several months now, with the 20-year-old himself reportedly keen on a return to England.

In the past, it has been reported that we would need to fork out an astronomical £120 million to bring the former Manchester City youth to Old Trafford. Given the financial uncertainly around the world due to the disruption the spread of coronavirus has caused, many clubs could be expected to demand much less for their star players in order to survive.

Therefore, Borussia Dortmund may be forced to lower their asking price for Jadon Sancho.

Carsten Cramer has been quoted in the Metro as saying:

“Everyone has to be as flexible as possible. I’m very sure the business on loans will become of higher relevance than periods before, and for sure it will take a longer time to plan your squad.

“I’m very, very sure that not on July 1 or even August 1 your team is done. Flexibility is very important, patience will be important. I’m very sure the expectations of high fees will go down as well.”

Jadon Sancho had been a doubt to make Borussia Dortmund’s 4-0 Revierderby victory over rivals Schalke 04 when the German Bundesliga restarted on Saturday but was introduced as a late substitute. Prior to the disruption, the young forward had scored 14 goals and recorded 15 assists in his 23 Bundesliga appearances (21 starts) this season, as well as a further two goals and two assists in eight Champions League matches (7 starts).
