Manchester United have suffered an injury blow ahead of their Premier League clash against Brighton & Hove Albion.
According to French outlet L’Equipe, Anthony Martial has picked up a knee injury during the international break and is on the sidelines this weekend.
The 25-year-old featured for France in their World Cup qualifier against Kazakhstan but had to limp off the pitch around the hour mark.
After undergoing further medical checks, former Monaco forward was forced out of Les Bleus’ trip to Bosnia & Herzegovina.
As things stand now, Martial will not be fully fit to help United against Brighton in their upcoming Premier League showdown at Old Trafford.
The versatile attacker may also have to sit out the Red Devils’ Europa League encounter with Granada on Thursday.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men will return to Europe’s second-tier competition next week to face La Liga minnows in Spain.
With their chances of lifting the Premier League crown this season long gone, United will be hoping of going as far as possible in the Europa League.
Despite enduring a disappointing season, the Frenchman has been a regular this term, avoiding physical setbacks up to now.
With Martial potentially out of the picture, Solskjaer will have to reintegrate Edinson Cavani into his starting line-up.
The Uruguayan veteran has missed four of United’s last five Premier League fixtures due to injuries and his physical condition continues to trouble the Norwegian.
