Manchester United haven’t had it easy on the injury front this season. Recently we lost Victor Lindelof to a muscular injury that is expect to keep the Swedish international out for a couple of weeks. Antonio Valencia, Phil Jones and Eric Bailly have all been sidelined at one point this season and summer signing Diogo Dalot has not been able to pull on the Manchester United shirt having been injured all season. That’s just our defence.
Last weekend we were able to welcome back striker Romelu Lukaku shortly after fellow Belgium international Marouane Fellaini returned from the injury.
Whilst things were starting to take a turn for the positive over the past couple of weeks we have now been dealt with another big blow. Speaking to MUTV this morning manager Jose Mourinho has announced that Alexis Sanchez could have played his final game for us in 2018.
The boss said the Chilean superstar suffered a hamstring injury in training on Thursday that could keep him out of the busy Christmas fixture list and until the new year. Jose told MUTV:
“The first thing I can say is that in every other club when a player is not playing it’s a simple manager’s decision.
“In our club, when a player doesn’t play, it’s always [reported that it’s] because the player isn’t behaving and has disciplinary issues. Of course that’s not the case again.“He has an important injury. I don’t want to risk by saying for how long [he will be out] but from the top of my experience, I would say he’s not playing [again] this year.”
Alexis Sanchez came off the bench in last weekend’s 0-0 draw at home to Crystal Palace but did not feature in Tuesday night’s 1-0 win over Young Bots in the Champions League.
The 29-year-old has only scored one goal in 10 Premier League appearances (5 starts) this season.
