Man Utd striker signs £52m deal

Manchester United have just announced that Marcus Rashford has signed a new four-year deal at Old Trafford.

The 21-year-old will remain at the club until 2023.

Rashford has been at United since he was seven years old, coming through the youth system before scoring a brace on his Premier League debut against Arsenal in 2016. He has since gone on to be a regular for both Manchester United and England.

Having already lost Ander Herrera on a free transfer this summer as the Spaniard did not want to put pen to paper over a new deal, it is relief to see our highly-rated striker extend his stay.

However, it comes at a price as several outlets, including the Guardian, are reporting that Rashford’s deal is worth a staggering £250,000 per week. This equates to £52 million over his four year duration.

Rashford netted 10 goals in 33 Premier League appearances (26 starts) for us last season, and a further two in the Champions League, which included the stoppage time penalty at the Parc des Prince as we eliminated Paris Saint-Germain on away goals in the second round.

The striker had been used out on the left wing predominately by Jose Mourinho, but current manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer got the best out of him by playing him as our striker. He was interchanged with Romelu Lukaku, giving us a choice of two goalscorers to choose from.
