Man Utd star Paul Pogba getting closer to PSG transfer

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba is getting closer to joining Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer agreement this summer.

The Frenchman has under three months remaining on his United contract, and there has been no progress over a possible renewal.

It appears he has decided to move on. Foot Mercato claims that Paris Saint-Germain are clear favourites to land his services on a Bosman deal.

The World Cup winner has already met sporting director Leonardo over a summer switch, and a move to Parc des Princes is ‘getting closer’.

Les Parisiens also have Pogba as the ‘top priority’ as they aim to add more quality to their midfield that has depended on Marco Verratti.

Our view:

Pogba has divided opinion among the United fanbase, but has still been a key player over the past five-and-a-half seasons.

The £49.5 million-rated star has managed 51 goal and 39 assists from 231 outings, and will be a big miss going forward.

There is still time to negotiate a renewal but it seems unlikely, particularly with the presence of his agent Mino Raiola.

Raiola has regularly talked up Pogba’s departure. This has apparently deteriorated his relationship with United’s board.

Pogba could be on his way out soon, but United seem braced for his departure with the search for a replacement underway.

Lazio’s Sergej Milinkovic-Savic has been earmarked as a top target, but may cost at least £54m during the summer transfer window.
