Man Utd star Luke Shaw training with England squad despite being suspended for Ukraine game

Manchester United defender Luke Shaw is continuing to train with the England squad despite being suspended for the Euro 2024 qualifier against Ukraine.

The left-back started in the Three Lions’ 2-1 win over Italy in midweek but he was sent off in the 80th minute after receiving two yellow cards in quick succession.

The 27-year-old was initially booked by the referee for time wasting and a couple of minutes later, he was given his marching orders after committing a foul.

As a result, Shaw is suspended for the game against Ukraine at the Wembley Stadium on Sunday but he has not been released from the Three Lions group.

It was anticipated that he could be allowed to return to Carrington early, but he is instead training with the rest of the group at Tottenham’s training ground today.

Shaw remains a key figure for United

The England international had an indifferent start to the season with United and this saw Tyrell Malacia get the nod over him in the starting line-up regularly.

However, Shaw managed to reclaim his spot after the September international break and he has since been a regular starter in the Premier League games.

Hence, the £31 million-rated star remains a key figure for United and fans would have ideally preferred him to return early from England duty following his sending off.

United restart their Premier League campaign with an away trip to Newcastle United on April 2.

Shaw is one of those expected to start at St James’ Park. Hopefully, Marcus Rashford will be available too. He recently withdrew from the England squad with a knock.
