Manchester United should consider signing Roma centre-back Evan Ndicka amid interest from Tottenham Hotspur.
The Red Devils are expected to be busy during the summer transfer window, with multiple signings anticipated.
They have already sealed an agreement to land Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers, and talks are ongoing with Brentford for Bryan Mbeumo.
The hierarchy have also made an initial approach for Sporting CP star Viktor Gyokeres. The club are exploring the conditions of a potential deal for the striker.
In our view, a centre-back should also be prioritised. Jonny Evans (retired) and Victor Lindelof have left on free transfers, while Lisandro Martinez is out with a knee injury.
Martinez has been injury-prone in his United career and may not be rushed back into action.
Manager Ruben Amorim may want another left-footed centre-back, given Luke Shaw’s poor injury record and Ayden Heaven’s inexperience at the highest level.
RMC Sport now claim that United and Tottenham have already made enquiries for Roma centre-back Ndicka, who could be available for around £34 million.
The Ivory Coast international will take time to evaluate ‘offers and projects’ presented to him.
Ndicka would be a fantastic acquisition for United
The 25-year-old joined the Giallorossi on a free transfer from Eintracht Frankfurt in the summer of 2023.
He had a brilliant 2024/25 campaign with the Rome outfit. The French-born ace was ever-present in Serie A for the Giallorossi as they just missed out on Champions League qualification.
Ndicka helped Roma keep 16 clean sheets in the Italian top-flight. He had a passing accuracy of 92 percent. The centre-back also made 3.8 clearances and 3.5 recoveries per game.
The Ivorian star also impressed with his aerial and physical presence and would be a fine acquisition for United. At £34m, he would represent a relatively good buy for the club.
Spurs are also interested in signing the former Eintracht man. They have the advantage of Champions League football after beating United in the Europa League final last month.
However, United could guarantee Ndicka a frequent starting role in a back three compared to Spurs, where Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven are undisputed starters in central defence when fit.
The Red Devils should make an early approach to secure a transfer agreement for Ndicka.
