Manchester United are currently engaged in negotiations with Chelsea for midfielder Mason Mount and they have already failed with three bids to sign him.
The Red Devils have no plans to increase their latest offer of £55m including add-ons, and the Blues have been handed time to reconsider their proposal.
In case there is no positive response, United are prepared to look at alternative targets, and ESPN have today reported that Kudus could be considered.
United boss Erik ten Hag knows Kudus from their time together at Ajax, but the club should avoid considering an approach for his services this summer.
Kudus does not fit Man Utd’s requirement
Ten Hag currently considers Mount as a priority. The Englishman is an attacking midfielder, but has also played from the centre of the park for Chelsea.
The Dutch tactician is aiming for better work rate and creativity from the number eight role, and Mount would provide strong competition to Christian Eriksen.
In comparison, Kudus does not fit United’s requirement. The Ghanaian started off as a central midfielder, but has been transformed into a genuine forward at Ajax.
Last season, he managed 18 goals and six assists in 42 outings for the Dutch outfit, but the majority of his goal contributions came from the right wing or up front.
In our view, United clearly don’t need another right winger in the squad. Kudus can lead the line, but the 22-year-old lacks the aerial presence that Ten Hag prefers.
Hence, he should not be considered as an alternative to Mount. ESPN have probably fabricated the story as Kudus has himself admitted that he prefers to play in attack.
