Man Utd sent scouts to watch Gleison Bremer, Juventus eyeing €70m for summer sale

Manchester United sent scouts to monitor Juventus defender Gleison Bremer during the recent Coppa Italia final against Atalanta, according to Tuttosport.

The Red Devils have been keeping tabs on the centre-back for some period of time and it appears they were watching him at the Stadio Olimpico on Wednesday night.

United are prepared to ‘attack’ for his signature this summer, but Tuttosport (via TuttoMercatoWeb) add that the Bianconeri will want at least €70 million (£60m) for him.

The Turin giants have identified Bologna’s Riccardo Calafiori as his potential replacement. The Serie A outfit plan to spend around €25m to sign the Italian ace.

United should negotiate lesser fee for Bremer

The 27-year-old has been one of Serie A’s best-performing centre-backs. He has had a passing accuracy of 86 per cent this term with an average of four long balls.

Defensively, he has won 5.3 duels and 1.6 tackles per game. The Coppa Italia winner has also averaged 4.1 clearances and 5.4 recoveries while keeping 15 clean sheets in Serie A.

With Raphael Varane set to leave on a free transfer, Bremer could be considered as a quality replacement with his vast experience of playing in the Italian top-flight.

Despite this, the Red Devils must not pay over the odds for his services. Bremer has built his reputation in Serie A where the games are more tactical and less intense.

He would have to deal with higher intensity games in the Premier League. Kalidou Koulibaly is an example of a centre-back, who struggled at Chelsea after standing out for Napoli.

Hence, there is a potential risk involved if Bremer does not adapt. We believe United should not spend more than €50m (£43m) up front for the former Torino defender.
