Manchester United are likely to part ways with multiple players before the transfer deadline.
Jadon Sancho is one of those who has been linked with an exit and The Athletic claim that the Red Devils are asking for £40 million to sanction his departure.
The club sense that Chelsea may make an approach for the England international, though his basic wages of £250,000 per week could be a potential concern.
Chelsea move for Sancho seems unlikely before deadline
Sancho missed United’s Premier League curtain-raiser against Fulham with a minor ear infection, but there are also doubts over his future at the club.
United are loaded with right-wing options at the moment. Alejandro Garnacho, Amad Diallo and Antony can all operate in the attacking role alongside Sancho.
The 24-year-old faces similar competition on the opposite flank. Marcus Rashford is an assured starter from the left wing while Garnacho can also play there.
Hence, there is a possibility that he could leave. Chelsea have been linked, but a deal seems unlikely.
The west London outfit signed Pedro Neto from Wolverhampton Wanderers this month and they are about to recruit another attacker in the form of Atletico’s Joao Felix.
The Blues may not pursue another option before the deadline. If Chelsea are interested in signing Sancho, they are likely to propose a loan with an obligation to buy.
In our opinion, the Red Devils are better off keeping Sancho until the turn of the year to assess whether he has a future at the club under head coach Erik ten Hag.
