Manchester United remain in talks to sign one of Fenerbahce’s best players, according to Turkish outlet Takvim.
The Red Devils recently suffered a setback with Luke Shaw picking up a calf injury. The Englishman is aiming to return after the next international break.
Despite this, United may want the assurance of another specialist left-back, considering Tyrell Malacia has been sidelined with a knee issue since last summer.
It is now reported that the Red Devils are continuing talks with Fenerbahce for Ferdi Kadioglu, but Brighton & Hove Albion have the upper hand for the player.
Both clubs have placed transfer bids on the table. However, Brighton’s offer of £30 million plus add-ons is reportedly more attractive. Fenerbahce are likely to accept it.
Kadioglu has already agreed personal terms with the South Coast outfit.
United risk missing out on Kadioglu to Brighton
Diogo Dalot started at left-back during Friday’s curtain-raiser against Fulham. The Portuguese ace did not provide any attacking threat and it was a humdrum performance.
It is quite clear that Dalot is most comfortable from the right-back role. The same can be said about new signing Noussair Mazraoui, who has barely played on the left in his career.
With the unreliability of Shaw, United need another quality option in their ranks. Ferdi Kadioglu would be perfect with his impressive consistency on both ends of the pitch.
The 24-year-old was one of the stand-out stars for Turkey at Euro 2024. He won an impressive 3.6 tackles and seven duels per appearance during the tournament in Germany.
He was also good in the final third with an average of 2.4 key passes with 67 percent of dribbles won. The Dutch-born star has good attacking traits, having started his career as a forward.
Brighton clearly have an edge over United with the proposal on the table. The onus is on the Red Devils to match the Seagulls’ transfer offer for the £48,000 per week star.
