Manchester United are ready to pay €60 million to sign Juventus defender Gleison Bremer this summer, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.
The Red Devils are expected to recruit a new centre-back for next season and they have already been linked with Bremer on multiple occasions.
Gazzetta dello Sport (page 22) now report that the Bianconeri are braced for the departure of Bremer and they are already on the hunt for a successor.
Bremer currently has a release clause worth €60m that will come into effect from June 2025, but United are willing to propose the same fee this summer.
This would reportedly suit the Bianconeri who could use part of the transfer funds (€30m) for the purchase of Bologna centre-back Riccardo Calafiori.
Bremer would be a good acquisition for United
The former Torino man has been one of the best central defenders in Serie A and he recently signed a new contract with the Bianconeri until June 2028.
Despite this, there is speculation that he could leave this summer, considering the Biancioneri may need to balance their books with a high-profile exit.
United have been heavily linked with him and in our opinion, he would be a good acquisition.
The Brazilian has won an average of 5.2 duels and 1.6 tackles in Serie A this term. He has also made 4.1 clearances per game alongside 5.3 ball recoveries.
Despite the positives, he is not an exceptional ball-playing centre-back and averages only 45 passes per appearance with an accuracy of around 86 per cent.
Hence, we are not fully convinced over a move for the 27-year-old and would prefer the club to sign Sporting’s Ousmane Diomande instead this summer.
Bremer, who has been described as an ‘exceptional player‘ by Juventus legend Sergio Brio, can not be considered as a long-term signing like Diomande.
