Man Utd prepared to sell goalkeeper Andre Onana for £20m

Manchester United have had a frustrating Premier League campaign. They have picked up only 38 points with six games remaining in the season.

The Red Devils are likely to spend big during the summer transfer window, but part of the outlay could depend on funds recouped from player sales.

The Mirror now claim that goalkeeper Andre Onana could be handed a lifeline next term with manager Ruben Amorim keen on bolstering other positions.

However, the club have not ruled out his departure. They are hoping for fresh interest to resurface from the Saudi Pro League for the Cameroon international.

United could demand in excess of £20 million for the 29-year-old. The figure is reportedly ‘needed to help with Profit and Sustainability Rules’ this summer.

Man Utd could cut their losses on Onana

Onana has made 95 appearances for the Red Devils since his £47m move from Inter Milan in 2023.

The shot-stopper has kept only 23 clean sheets during this period while conceding 143 goals.

The former Ajax man has been guilty of making 12 errors with eight of those leading to goals.

In our view, the club must part ways with Onana this summer. A £27m loss could be beneficial for them.

The Red Devils could recruit a successor with the funds recouped from Onana’s departure.

United have already ‘sounded out‘ their interest in signing Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia.

The Spaniard is a long-term target for Arsenal, but they see him as a deputy to David Raya.

Garcia is one of the best goalkeepers in La Liga and would be a solid upgrade on Onana.

He has a release clause worth £21.5m in his contract. It appears a no-brainer decision to sign him.

United should be able to convince Garcia to join them with an assured starting position.
