Man Utd on the verge of signing Manuel Ugarte from Paris Saint-Germain

Manchester United are on the verge of signing their top midfield target, according to Le Parisien.

The Red Devils have already signed Joshua Zirkzee, Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui this summer and Manuel Ugarte could join them in the coming days.

United have been locked in negotiations with Paris Saint-Germain for some time. Le Parisiens claim that they are now close to reaching an agreement over a €60 million (£51m) deal.

Only the final details need to be resolved. All parties are confident of the transfer being concluded soon.

United set to end brilliant transfer window with Ugarte deal

The Red Devils have had an impressive transfer window. They have added the much-needed quality in defence with the arrivals of Yoro, De Ligt and Mazraoui.

Zirkzee was recruited to compete with Rasmus Hojlund up front and he has already made his mark, scoring a late winner against Fulham in the league opener.

Ugarte should be another top-class acquisition. The Uruguayan is a strong ball-playing midfielder, who has also caught the eye with his tackling, duel winning ability and recoveries.

He completed 91 percent of his passes in Ligue 1 last season. The former Sporting man won an average of 3.9 tackles and 6.4 duels alongside 7.2 ball recoveries.

The 23-year-old finalised personal terms with United back in July and a transfer could be straightforward once a formal agreement is reached between the clubs.

Ugarte, who has been described as ‘tireless‘ by Paris Saint-Germain’s official website, should be an assured starter ahead of Casemiro once he adapts to the tactics.
