Manchester United have strongly been linked with Sporting Club of Portugal superstar Bruno Fernandes this summer.
The 24-year-old notched up 20 goals and 13 assists in 33 Portuguese Primeira Liga appearances for Lisbon’s second club this past summer.
Fernandes was also a key part of the Portugal side that won the inaugural UEFA Nations League earlier this month.
However, only two days ago did the Metro cite reports in Portugal claiming that Liverpool were due to meet the player’s agent ahead of a £40 million deal to Anfield this summer.
Liverpool’s offer fell fair short of the £70 million that Sporting CP are looking for their superstar. The Metro went on to say that the Reds had no plans on matching their requested fee.
Today, Sky Sports are citing Portuguese outlet O Jogo in reporting that Manchester United officials are now set to meet with the player’s agent over a potential £70 million move to Old Trafford.
Bruno Fernandes would be a superb signing if we were able to pull it off. The attacking midfielder both scores and creates chances for teammates and is destined to play for one of the top clubs next summer. Fingers crossed it is us.
