Man Utd midfielder Scott McTominay delivers underwhelming display in Scotland’s 4-0 defeat

Manchester United’s Scott McTominay delivered an underwhelming performance as Scotland lost 4-0 against Netherlands in Amsterdam on Friday.

The Tartan Army created numerous scoring opportunities, but their wastefulness in front of goal ultimately cost them dearly.

Tijiani Reijnders broke the deadlock five minutes before the interval with a fabulous strike.

Georginio Wijnaldum, Wout Weghorst and Donyell Malen also netted as the visitors extended their winless run to six matches.

United star McTominay started as a box-to-box midfielder for Scotland but failed to make an impact.

The 27-year-old endured a bad start as he was booked for a careless high arm after only eight minutes.

His biggest moment in the match came in the 47th minute when he got into the penalty box and fired an effort that Reijnders blocked.

McTominay had 54 touches in the game with a 92 percent pass accuracy.

However, he won just four of his 11 ground and aerial duels and lost possession on eight occasions.

The United midfielder also committed three fouls and was in danger of receiving a red card. He made five interceptions and a clearance.

McTominay will return to action when Scotland take on Northern Ireland at Hampden Park on Tuesday.
