Man Utd midfielder Christian Eriksen provides fresh injury update

Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen has provided a fresh injury update for the upcoming UTD Podcast series.

The Dane has been on the sidelines since late January following an ankle injury sustained during the FA Cup fourth round tie against Reading.

The €25 million-rated star has since made steady progress in his recovery and he recently hinted that he is back in light training with football boots.

In a small excerpt of the upcoming UTD Podcast, Eriksen has now confirmed that he has started the next step of his rehab after spending time on the gym for weeks.

He said: “Yeah, it is going well. I have just started being outside as you saw [on Instagram] with football boots on. And then we take it from there, that is the next step.”

“I have been in the gym for some weeks now and now it is time to do the next rehab session outside.”

Eriksen could return to first team action next month

Eriksen has been a fantastic signing for the Red Devils on a free transfer. In his 31 appearances this season, he has contributed two goals and nine assists.

In his absence, United have lacked the creative presence from the number eight role. Fred has fared decently but he has not made the same level of impact.

Hence, manager Erik ten Hag will be desperate to have Eriksen back for the season run-in, but the Dutchman may want to handle him with caution for the initial weeks.

Ten Hag has confirmed that Eriksen will feature for the club next month, but the Dane could largely be restricted to cameo appearances until he is fully match fit.

Hence, Eriksen may not be a consistent starter until late April or early May but United will still need his services. They will have plenty of games if they stay alive in the Cup competitions.
