Manchester United plan to reward manager Erik ten Hag with a new contract regardless of who owns the club, according to The Mirror.
The Red Devils are currently in the process of a potential takeover from either Sheikh Jassim or Sir Jim Ratcliffe before the summer.
Representatives from Sheikh Jassim’s 92 foundation met with United officials on Thursday while Sir Jim was himself present for a meeting yesterday.
The prospective buyers have been given a 10-day deadline to submit a second proposal after which the Glazers will make a final decision.
It is now reported that Sheikh Jassim and Sir Jim are pleased with Ten Hag’s work and believe he is the right man to take United back to their glory days.
Ten Hag helped United end their six-year trophy drought by winning the Carabao Cup and he is set to be handed a new deal regardless of the club’s owner.
Ten Hag is the ideal manager for United’s long-term success
The Dutch tactician has instilled a strong winning mentality within the current group of players and this has paved the way for a first trophy in six long years.
The club need more high-profile signings to close the gap on the Premier League title contenders and there is no one better for the job than Ten Hag.
The 53-year-old has an excellent eye for talent and the right players for his squad and we have already seen how he has got the best out of his signings.
There will be another spending spree this summer. It could be another record-breaking transfer window if a takeover is completed in the coming weeks.
In our view, it is a no-brainer decision to prolong Ten Hag’s stay. He was handed a three-year deal with an option for 12 months last summer. He could sign a longer contract this time.
