Man Utd learn opponents for FA Cup fourth round, Crystal Palace game rearranged for January 18

Manchester United have been drawn against Reading at Old Trafford in the FA Cup fourth round.

The Red Devils started their FA Cup campaign against Everton on Friday, January 6. Their performance was not convincing but they ended up winning by a 3-1 scoreline.

United will now face Paul Ince’s Reading in the next round. They will have home advantage once again and should be clear favourites to progress in the competition.

The tie will be played between January 27 and 30. The exact date and time should be announced soon.

Man Utd’s trip to Crystal Palace rearranged

Following Palace’s third round exit from the FA Cup, the Premier League have confirmed that United will be facing the Eagles on the road on Wednesday, January 18.

The fixture was initially postponed in September due to the Queen’s untimely death. It has now been rearranged for this month on the back of Palace’s Cup result.

If the Eagles had drawn against Southampton, a replay would have been played on the same date.

With the rescheduled fixture, United now have three more league games left this month.

They will be hosting Manchester City at Old Trafford on January 14 before travelling to south London to face Patrick Vieira’s side, who beat them last time around.

Four days later, the Red Devils face Premier League leaders Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium. Unlike United, the Gunners don’t have a midweek fixture to worry about.

The January league schedule could make or break United’s season. They could emerge as genuine title contenders if they can beat all three of them this month.

However, their Champions League pursuit could take a hit if they lose precious points in the run. Hopefully, it will be the former with United in sparkling form.
