Man Utd keen on signing Benjamin Sesko despite high valuation

Manchester United remain interested in signing Red Bull Salzburg striker Benjamin Sesko despite the gap in valuations between the clubs, Sky Sports’ Dharmesh Sheth claims.

The Red Devils are keen on landing a new centre-forward this summer, and Sesko has recently emerged as the prime target after his impressive early progress at Salzburg.

United football director John Murtough engaged in talks with his agent recently, and the club have since opened discussions with Salzburg to try and negotiate a move for him.

A gap in valuations continue to exist, but Sheth reports that United are still interested in doing a deal. A dialogue between the clubs ‘remains open’ at the current point of time.

Man Utd need to prise away Sesko ahead of rivals

United are said to have monitored from his time at NK Domzale. They had the chance to sign him for just £2.5 million three years ago, but felt the price was excessive at his age.

At 19, he is now regarded as one of the best young strikers in European football. The teenager has 12 goals and eight assists from just 39 appearances for Salzburg to date.

The Red Devils could have prised him away for cheap as a 16-year-old, but they currently need to pay a premium fee to persuade the Austrian outfit to do business with them.

Salzburg are reportedly eyeing over £45 million for the highly-rated striker, and in the current market conditions, their demands are not ecstatic for a player dubbed the next Erling Haaland.

United seem reluctant to come close to the figure, but could find a solution by including easily achievable add-ons. They may need to be fast with interest from several other clubs.

Chelsea and Newcastle United have also made contact with his representative while Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool are also in the mix to sign the Slovenian sensation.
