Man Utd interested in signing Ajax midfielder Mohammed Kudus

Manchester United are one of the clubs interested in signing Ajax midfielder Mohammed Kudus during the summer transfer window, according to The Athletic.

The Ghana international came on the cusp of joining Everton for £15 million last summer but the Dutch outfit blocked his departure before the transfer deadline.

Kudus has since enjoyed a superb season with the Dutch champions. The attacker has bagged 18 goals and six assists from 41 appearances in all competitions.

It is now reported that the 22-year-old has turned down a one-year extension and he has informed Ajax of his desire to leave when the transfer window opens.

United, Arsenal and Newcastle are among clubs interested in signing him. The Athletic claim that Ajax value him at €46m (£40m) but the price could change in future.

Kudus would be a shrewd signing for Man Utd

United boss Erik ten Hag worked with Kudus for two seasons at Ajax but the Ghanaian barely made an impact. He was largely sidelined with injury and fitness issues.

However, he has managed to transform his career this term. The Ajax star has been brilliant despite switching between the centre-forward, right-wing and number 10 roles.

Aside from his goal involvements, Kudus has completed an impressive 87 per cent of his passes while winning a stunning 5.3 ground and aerial duels per appearance.

Meanwhile, he has been sublime with his dribbling. He has completed nearly three take-ons per game.

In our view, Kudus would be a shrewd signing for United. He is effective from multiple positions. The Ghanaian was a central midfielder during his early days with Ajax.

Ten Hag could not play him regularly during his time as Ajax’s manager. We won’t be surprised if the Dutch tactician is pushing to reunite with his former player.
