Manchester United are close to signing one of Wolverhampton Wanderers’ stand-out players this season, according to Daily Mail.
The Red Devils are planning for a busy summer transfer window. There could be multiple signings based on Ruben Amorim’s requirements.
The Mancunian giants have been linked with Wolves star Matheus Cunha in recent weeks, and they are now closing in on an agreement.
Daily Mail report that the Red Devils aim to finalise terms with the Brazilian by next month.
Newcastle United are also interested in the playmaker, who has a £62.5 million release clause, but Amorim’s project has swayed him.
The 25-year-old ace has been persuaded by the ‘prospect of playing a pivotal role’ in the Red Devils’ squad revamp under Amorim.
Fabrizio Romano has also said there is a ‘strong’ possibility that Cunha will join United and ‘conversations are advancing’.
Cunha would be a fabulous signing for United
The former Atletico Madrid man started his career as a centre-forward, but he has excelled from the number 10 position since his move to Wolves.
Cunha has registered 16 goals and four assists from 31 appearances this campaign. 90 of his goal contributions (20) have come in the league.
The Brazilian would be a perfect fit to partner Bruno Fernandes in the attacking midfield.
He is a playmaker with a tireless work rate and works hard off the ball. Cunha has won almost six duels per league game alongside 4.1 recoveries.
The Coritiba graduate has just four assists this season but has created 12 big chances in the league.
His presence alongside Fernandes should improve United’s goalscoring prospects. A marquee striker alongside the duo would be the cherry on top.
