Manchester United have held a series of transfer talks with the agent of AS Monaco striker Wissam Ben Yedder, according to reports in France.
The French striker finished the 2019-20 Ligue 1 season as the joint-top scorer with 18 goals in 26 appearances, adding a further seven assists too.
Monaco finished outside the European places after the season was prematurely ended due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and as a result, the club accept they will face an impossible task of retaining their star this summer.
Le 10 Sport claim that Monaco would be prepared to let Wissam Ben Yedder leave for more than the €40 million (£35.6m) that they paid Sevilla for his services only 12 months ago. The only club mentioned interested in the striker is Manchester United.
The report goes on to say that we have been in talks with the player’s agent for the past couple of months too.
Ben Yedder would be seen as the long-term replacement for Odion Ighalo at Old Trafford, who was only brought in on a short-term long deal from Shanghai Shenua during the winter transfer market.
The 29-year-old has been a goalscorer wherever he has been and would be an excellent addition to the Manchester United attack. He has two goals in eight appearances for the French national team too.
Wissam Ben Yedder is a pacey striker who times he runs beyond the last defender very well. He is also capable of playing out on the left so could rotate with both Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial.
