Man Utd handed excellent team news ahead of Arsenal clash

Manchester United host Arsenal in the Premier League at Old Trafford on Sunday as we look to close in on a second place finish.

Arsene Wenger confirmed earlier this week that this will be his final season with the Gunners putting an end to our rivalry with the French manager that has gone on for more than two decades which reached its peak in the late 1990s and early 2000s during Sir Alex Ferguson’s reign.

We were 3-1 winners at the Emirates at the start of December in a game that Jesse Lingard scored a brace.

Arsenal currently find themselves sixth in the Premier League and won’t be qualifying for next season’s Champions League via their league position.  However, the North London club have the second leg of their Europa League semi-final tie at Atletico Madrid this Thursday.  The two teams played out a 1-1 draw this past week, giving the Spaniards a slight advantage with the away goal.

With the Europa League being Arsenal’s only way of getting into next season’s Champions League it would be understandable that Wenger fully focuses on Thursday’s game instead of Sunday’s trip to Old Trafford.

Plenty of changes can be expected to be made for this weekend as the Manchester Evening News are reporting that Arsene Wenger has told his coaching staff that he will rest his star players and take a risk of being thrashed by us in order to be in top condition for when they face Atletico Madrid.

The likes of Rob Holding, Sead Kolasinac, Calum Chambers and Alex Iwobi may be recalled as a result, whilst youngsters Reiss Nelson, Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Joe Willock could all get rare starts.

However, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is almost certain to start up front as he is cup tied for the remainder of the Europa League campaign this term.
