Man Utd handed double injury boost for Brighton & Hove Albion trip

Manchester United have been handed a double injury boost ahead of their Premier League clash against Brighton & Hove Albion on the road.

The Red Devils recently ended a three-match winless streak with a 3-0 triumph over Brentford at Old Trafford. Cristiano Ronaldo was the pick of the players with his 24th goal of the campaign.

United need four more points to ensure Europa League football. Ahead of Saturday’s late kick-off at Brighton, both Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Harry Maguire were spotted in full team training.

Wan-Bissaka has not been in the matchday squad for the past two games with an unknown injury while Maguire has been sidelined for the same period with what has been termed as a knee niggle.

Both were involved in Thursday’s training session, and could feature against Graham Potter’s side tomorrow. The fixture has been one-sided in United’s favour, but it does not tell the entire story.

United had to work hard for a 2-0 victory at Old Trafford earlier in the campaign. Brighton came close to scoring on multiple occasions. Bruno Fernandes finished the game with a late stoppage-time goal.

Meanwhile, last season’s visit of the Amex Stadium saw Brighton hit the woodwork on five occasions which is a league record. United still won 3-2 after Fernandes’ penalty following the full-time whistle.

The Red Devils were awarded the spot-kick through VAR, and will be hoping for a clearer result this time. Should United come on top tomorrow, they will register an eighth successive win over Brighton.

It is unclear whether Wan-Bissaka will start at right-back. Diogo Dalot had a good game against Brentford. He delivered a quality long ball for Anthony Elanga, who assisted Fernandes in opening the scoring.

Maguire has been a regular in central defence when fit, but it remains to be see whether Ralf Rangnick prefers him over Victor Lindelof, who secured a clean sheet alongside Raphael Varane on Monday night.

The England star could be handled with caution with minutes off the bench. The club-captain could ideally return to the starting line-up for the final game of the campaign at Crystal Palace on May 22.
