Manchester United have been handed a big boost with midfielder Christian Eriksen back in full training after recovering from a knee injury.
The Denmark international suffered the setback in the 1-0 Premier League win over Luton Town at Old Trafford before the last international break.
United initially revealed that he would be sidelined for a month, but the experienced midfielder has taken a little longer to return to first-team training.
He was spotted in today’s training session alongside the likes of Donny van de Beek and Marcus Rashford and could be in the matchday squad this weekend.
Eriksen’s return is a big boost for Man Utd
The Red Devils have had limited options in the centre of the park in recent weeks with Eriksen, Casemiro and Mason Mount being on the sidelines.
As a result, manager Erik ten Hag has had to work with Sofyan Amrabat, Kobbie Mainoo and Scott McTominay in the central midfield positions.
The Dutchman should have more creativity from midfield in the coming games with Eriksen’s comeback.
The Dane may not start from the off after his injury lay-off, but he could be a useful option off the bench with his ability to make key passes from deep.
Eriksen has yet to replicate the form displayed before his ankle injury last season, but he is still capable of making a difference with his range of passing.
United will be in Premier League action against West Ham United in Saturday’s early kick-off at the London Stadium. It is a must-win game for them.
The Red Devils have dropped five points from the last two league outings and need a victory to reduce the six-point gap to the final Champions League spot.
Manchester City are currently fourth in the standings, but they won’t be in action this weekend due to their involvement in the FIFA Club World Cup in Saudi.
