Man Utd goalkeeper signs new contract

Manchester United are well-equipped in the goalkeeper position with three different goalkeepers making appearances this season.

David de Gea is arguably the best goalkeeper in the world right now whilst backup Sergio Romero was a World Cup finalist three years ago.  Joel Pereira is a highly-rated youngster who has made an appearance in the EFL Cup this season despite lots of competition.

There is also promise in our youth teams.  One of those is 21-year-old Kieran O’Hara.  The Republic of Ireland under-21 international has been a regular in Nicky Butt’s under-21 squad this season and has now signed a new contract with us that will run until 2020.

O’Hara was actually born locally and is still eligible to play for the England national team as he hasn’t made his senior debut for the Republic of Ireland yet.

Speaking to MUTV, the youngster had this to say after signing his new deal:

“Since I joined United, it has been everything I expected it to be. The club gives you all the guidance that you need from experienced coaches to improve every single day.

“But I know that the hard work has just started and that I need to continue to listen and give everything in training and the matches we have coming up. I know I’m at the right place to continue my development as a young player and I’m thrilled to have signed a new contract.”

Kieran O’Hara started in our 1-1 draw versus Leicester City’s under-23s on Monday in what was our final fixture before the winter break.
