Man Utd given deadline when to sign Sancho

Manchester United have been strongly linked with Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho for a while now.

The 20-year-old is coming off the back of an incredible season in Germany, where he scored 17 goals and recorded 16 assists in 32 Bundesliga appearances (25 starts), as well as two goals and two assists in eight Champions League appearances (7 start).

Reports over the weekend claimed that we had agreed a deal ‘in principle’ with the player, for an initial £140,000-a-week rising to £200,000 over five years.

However, no transfer fee between Manchester United and the German side has been agreed so far. Earlier this month, Sky Sports even suggested we would only go up for £50 million, which is less than half of Dortmund’s valuation of the England international.

Bild journalist Christian Falk is this morning reporting that Borussia Dortmund are now issuing an ultimatum that if we want to bid for Jadon Sancho, a deal must be done by 10 August.

That gives the Manchester United board just over a month to come to terms with both the club and player over a deal, which shouldn’t be unreasonable at all.

Our Premier League season is set to finish at the end of July, and the FA Cup final is the following weekend. Our Europa League campaign resumes in August.
