Manchester United have discovered that there were no positive cases of COVID-19 in the camp following tests that took place at our Carrington training base on Sunday. That’s according to Alex Turk of SI.com.
Earlier today, the Premier League confirmed that six players and/or staff members at three different clubs had tested positive for the virus. None of the player nor clubs have so far been disclosed.
The press release confirmed:
“Players or club members who have tested positive will now self isolate for a period of seven days.”
Manchester United players returned to training on Tuesday, 24 hours after the 20 Premier League clubs agreed to stage one of ‘Project Restart’. The aim is to get the English top flight completed over the summer, with Friday 12 June the initial date thrown around. However, there was no date decided during Monday’s video conference meeting between clubs and league officials.
We were due to face Tottenham Hotspur at their new stadium before the Premier League was suspended on 13 March due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The virus has affected the UK worse than any other European country to date.
Germany showed the way to football authorities around Europe and the world as the Bundesliga returned this past weekend with all 18 teams playing. Italy and Spain are also planning to get their 2019-20 seasons completed at a similar date to the Premier League, whilst France and the Netherlands cancelled their leagues back in April.
