Man Utd feel Tottenham will settle for £100m for Harry Kane but face stumbling block

Manchester United feel Tottenham Hotspur could sell Harry Kane for £100 million during the summer transfer window, according to the Daily Mail.

The England captain has had another fantastic season with the north London club. He has netted 30 goals in all competitions with 28 of those coming in the Premier League.

Despite his efforts, Spurs are currently eighth in the league table and they may not be playing in Europe next season unless Aston Villa drop points in their final game today.

It is now reported that United feel Spurs could sell their prized asset for £100m with his contract expiring in June next year. However, they are not banking on an easy transfer process.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is known to be a notorious negotiator and there could be a prolonged transfer saga over Kane, particularly with the club yet to appoint a new manager.

United must not repeat Frenkie de Jong saga

United were determined to land Frenkie de Jong from Barcelona last summer under Erik ten Hag’s recommendation. They spent months negotiating but a move did not materialise.

The Red Devils agreed a transfer deal with the Blaugrana for the Netherlands international but the midfielder was adamant that he was not leaving the Catalan giants.

In Kane’s scenario, the situation is quite different. The 29-year-old could be open to joining the club but Levy will make it difficult for United. He may not sell to a direct league rival.

With Real Madrid now entering the race, Levy could lean towards negotiating with them. This could lead to a lengthy transfer saga and United must avoid getting involved this summer.

In our view, they should make a club-record bid for Kane. If Levy decides to play hardball, United should turn their attention towards alternative options such as Goncalo Ramos.
