Manchester United are set to face intense competition in the race to sign Lille defender Leny Yoro this summer, according to Fichajes.
The Red Devils are likely to recruit a new centre-back in the next transfer window with the prospect of Raphael Varane leaving the club.
The Frenchman’s current deal expires at the end of June and as things stand, the board have no plans of handing him a possible extension.
United have already been linked with several names including Gleison Bremer and Fichajes report that they are in the mix to sign Yoro.
The outlet add that the competition has intensified with Real Madrid joining the race alongside Liverpool, Paris Saint-Germain, Atletico Madrid and Barcelona.
Yoro would be a good long-term signing
The 18-year-old is currently enjoying his first full season with Lille. He has been hugely impressive from the right centre-back role for the French outfit.
The teenage has completed 57 passes per league game with an accuracy of 92 per cent.
He has won 67 per cent of his duels alongside three clearances and 4.2 recoveries per outing.
Yoro has the potential to become an elite central defender in the long run and we won’t be surprised if United are weighing up an approach to sign him.
The French wonderkid will enter the final year of his contract this summer, but Lille are still said to be eyeing around €60 million to sanction his sale.
United’s main cause for concern could be the interest from Madrid. The youngster is already aware of the transfer interest from the La Liga heavyweights.
In our view, the Red Devils could convince him into a move with the assurance of a starting role which would be possible if Varane were to part ways.
