Manchester United are eyeing a new defensive midfielder this summer and they are currently looking at different options on the table.
Paris Saint-Germain’s Manuel Ugarte is the number one priority for the club, but the asking price continues to remain a stumbling block.
Fiorentina star Sofyan Amrabat has been highlighted as one of the alternative options, but we believe the club are not interested in re-signing him.
Amrabat’s loan spell with United officially ended at the end of June. They decided against triggering the option to buy him before the July 21 deadline.
The club have now dropped a huge hint that Amrabat may not be re-signed after removing him from the first-team squad list on their official website.
Until yesterday afternoon, Amrabat’s name was present. He was without his jersey number 4 which was handed to Matthijs de Ligt upon his arrival.
However, his name was removed from the website last night which could be a big hint.
The Moroccan star has also removed Manchester United from his Instagram bio. In our view, United have made the right decision regarding the 27-year-old.
Amrabat had a mixed loan spell at United last term, making only 30 appearances. He struggled to adapt to the higher intensity of the Premier League on his arrival.
The midfielder, who was described as ‘world-class‘ by manager Walid Regragui, showed glimpses of his Fiorentina form in May, but that was not enough to convince the hierarchy to buy him.
The club now seem to be eyeing a better profile for the number six role. Ugarte would be a perfect addition if they can persuade PSG to lower their demands.
