Man Utd defender Victor Lindelof shines in Sweden’s 1-0 win over Albania

Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof produced an impressive performance as Sweden recorded a 1-0 victory over Albania at the Friends Arena on Monday.

The first half of the friendly game remained goalless before Gustaf Nilsson scored the decisive goal after 62 minutes.

Manager Jon Dahl Tomasson made six changes to the team that lost 5-2 to Portugal but Lindelof was among those to keep his place.

The experienced defender received plenty of criticism for his display against Portugal last week.

He won zero ground and aerial duels and failed to register a single tackle or interception in that match.

However, the 29-year-old bounced back on Monday night by helping his side keep a clean sheet.

Lindelof star had 64 touches, made three clearances and two tackles. He also completed 50 of his 56 passes and made one key pass.

The Sweden international lost possession seven times but won five of his seven duels.

Lindelof will now return to United who are set to face Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium on Saturday.

Harry Maguire picked up a knock on international duty, while Lisandro Martinez and Jonny Evans are doubtful due to fitness issues.

Lindelof will likely start in central defence alongside Raphael Varane this weekend.
