Man Utd could receive eight bids before Wednesday’s deadline, Glazers likely to stay if £6bn price is not met

Manchester United could receive as many as eight bids before Wednesday’s deadline for second offers, according to Sky Sports.

The Glazers opened the door to sell the Red Devils in November last year, but the club’s owners are not expected to part ways unless their asking price is met.

They are looking for £6 billion to move on and as things stand, there are no clear favourites, though Sheikh Jassim and Sir Jim Ratcliffe have confirmed their interest.

Aside from the duo, there are six more firms that have come with investment and purchase proposals. Wednesday’s evening deadline could decide their fate.

Sky Sports claim that the Glazers could look for investment into the club instead of an outright sale, suppose their valuation is not met by tomorrow evening.

Sheikh Jassim could be leading the takeover race

Sheikh Jassim and Sir Jim look the front runners to takeover United. Their opening bids of £4.5bn and £4.3bn were short of the valuation, but fresh proposals are expected.

Representatives of Sheikh Jassim met with United officials last week while Sir Jim also made a public appearance at Old Trafford. He had a brief chat with manager Erik ten Hag.

In our view, Sheikh Jassim could be leading the race after recent comments from Sir Jim. In an interview with Wall Street Journal, he was adamant he will not pay a ‘stupid price’.

It remains to be seen whether Sheikh Jassim is willing to match the price tag. Otherwise, the Glazers could go with Elliott Investment Management, who are looking for a minority stake.
