Ole Gunnar Solskjaer didn’t give too many clues during his pre-match press conference on Friday as to what Manchester United’s plans are for the January transfer window.
As per every transfer window, several players are being linked with a move to the club this month.
The latest is Dalian Yifang winger Yannick Carrasco, formerly of Atletico Madrid fame. Immediately, one has to ask why we’re being linked to another left winger given that we already have Alexis Sanchez and Anthony Martial playing here, with Marcus Rashford another option.
Carrasco left the Spanish capital one year ago to go to the riches of the Chinese Super League. It appears the 25-year-old is already bored and is looking for a move back to a top European league. French outlet Foot Mercato are making claims that it is us who are interested in making a deal for the player.
However, the Belgian international is understood to earning a staggering salary in Asia, which appears to be a huge price given the options we already have out wide. It would come as a shock move if we were to sign the player this month, in my opinion.
During his time at both AS Monaco and Atletico Madrid, Yannick Carrasco was a top winger. He is lightning quick with great technique and an eye for goal. He was part of the Belgium side that finished third at last summer’s World Cup.
With Solskjaer only being our caretaker manager until the end of the season it will be interesting to see if we make any signings or sales this month, given that we don’t know who will be our next permanent manager at the moment.
