Man Utd close to signing highly-rated Spanish teenager

Manchester United are closing in on signing Spanish defender Adrian Corral, according to reports from his homeland.

We have been linked with the teenager who is coming up through the youth ranks at Villarreal as a left-back who is also comfortable playing as the left-sided centre-back.

According to Spanish outlet Super Desporte, Corral has already announced that he will leave the Yellow Submarines wants he turns 16, and everything points in the direction of him signing for us once he does so.

A similar claim has been made by fellow Spanish outlet Sport, who describe the youngster as a ‘pearl’. However, the same report does state that the player has also received an offer from Liverpool.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer being our caretaker manager should not have an impact on whether Adrian Corral chooses us or Liverpool or another club as he would be expecting to play among the youth team for a couple of seasons before he has the opportunity to break into our first team.

One positive of the Norwegian in charge of us for the remainder of the season is that Solskjaer has already shown trust in young players. Marcus Rashford is starting over Romelu Lukaku, while Andreas Pereira, Diogo Dalot and Scott McTominay have also seen a healthy amount of game time already.

It will be interesting to see if we can agree a deal for this youngster to bring him to our academy this year.
