Manchester United are expected to be busy in this summer’s transfer window and a new left-back is one position that Jose Mourinho will be looking at.
Ashley Young has spent the majority of the season there but isn’t an out-and-out defender. The England international also turns 33 over the summer.
The boss has seemingly lost faith in the likes of Luke Shaw, Matteo Darmian, Daley Blind and Marcos Rojo playing the left-back role long-term too. The majority of these four could be shown the door during the summer transfer window too.
Director of Trading at bookmakers BetStars, Ian Marmion, is now claiming that we are the ‘clear favourites’ to sign Paris Saint-Germain’s Layvin Kurzawa.
The 25-year-old has never been a regular in Unai Emery’s side but has made 17 Ligue 1 starts and six in this season’s Champions League for the French champions. He is an attack-minded full-back who scored three goals in this season’s Champions League and some important, late goals for AS Monaco, previously.
Kurzawa has been with PSG since 2015 where he has played about half of their league fixtures in each of his three seasons at the club. He also has 11 caps for the French national team.
Ian Marmion believes that Layvin Kurzawa is looking to leave the Parc des Princes this summer and that it would work in our favour with Jose looking to overhaul the defence. BetStars Director of Trading is quoted as saying:
“Kurzawa has had to put up with being rotated with former Tottenham full-back Yuri Berchiche this season and a list of suitors are ready to offer the 25-year-old an exit route.
“United’s odds of 11/8 rank them as the clear favourites to sign Kurzawa as Jose Mourinho seeks a long-term solution to the left-back role, having used Ashley Young there for most of this term.”
Jose Mourinho likes an attacking full-back so Layvin Kurzawa would be a good fit and an upgrade on what we currently have should we be successful in signing him from Paris Saint-Germain this summer.
