Manchester United are expected to be busy during this summer’s transfer window with a couple of positions being a key focus.
One is in central midfield where Michael Carrick is retiring and Maourane Fellaini is expected to leave when his contract expires. This would leave us with only four central midfielders whilst Jose Mourinho has predominately been playing a 4-3-3 system following the signing of Alexis Sanchez in January.
Another area the boss is expected to look at is left-back. 32-year-old Ashley Young has spent the majority of the season here despite naturally being a left winger.
Jose Mourinho is seemingly not keen on Luke Shaw being the long-term solution in this role, whilst Daley Blind and Marcos Rojo haven’t been given many opportunities this season.
Last summer we were strongly linked with a move for Tottenham Hotspur’s Danny Rose but nothing materialised, and the speculation linking us to the England international has largely died down following the close of the winter transfer window.
Another option appears to be Celtic’s Kieran Tierney and the Metro are today reporting that the Manchester United board are going to pursuit the 20-year-old.
Reports back in January were linking us with a move for the Scotland international but nothing materialised during the winter transfer window.
Tierney has reportedly impressed out scouts and is one of the top names on Jose Mourinho’s wish list for this summer.
He has gained both Champions League and international experience this season with many journalists stating he has put in impressive performances in both competitions.
