Man Utd & Arsenal prepare bids for 51-goal striker

Manchester United and Arsenal are preparing bids for Santos star youth striker Yuri Alberto, according to the Sun.

The Brazilian has been scouted by several top European clubs after scoring an impressive 51 goals in 32 games at youth level last year.

Alberto is currently part of the Brazilian under-17 set up but it won’t be long before he’s playing for an older age group with the impressive performances he is putting in.

Santos value their highly-rated striker at £37.5 million which you’d think would immediately rule out Arsene Wenger and Arsenal making a move.

The 16-year-old’s agent has been quoted by the Sun claiming that we are both interested in him:

“United and Arsenal are very keen on Yuri. They watched him when Brazil played in England earlier this year.

“His agent has been contacted and told by both the Premier League clubs they will be watching him over the coming months.”

Yuri Alberto signed his first professional deal with Santos back in July but is yet to make his senior debut for the Vila Belmiro club.

He stands at nearly 6 feet tall and has not been compared to either former-Santos legends Pele or Neymar.

Should the report be accurate and that we are indeed stepping up our interest in the young Brazilian, we could face competition from Italian giants Juventus, Internazionale and Roma who are all strongly linked with the player too.
